Big Pine & Lower Keys Events
What's happening in Big Pine & Lower Keys
Big Pine and the Lower Keys cover Mile Marker 9 through 47: the National Key Deer Refuge, Bahia Honda State Park (the prettiest beach in the Keys, fight me), Big Pine Key, No Name Key, Sugarloaf, Cudjoe. The event scene out here is the quietest of any region. No resort strip, no nightly music circuit. What you do find: state park programs at Bahia Honda and the Key Deer Refuge, Lions Club fundraisers, chili cookoffs, the Underwater Music Festival at Looe Key Reef in July (one of the strangest and best events anywhere), and the occasional concert at a Big Pine venue. Best months for events: July for Underwater Music, October for the Big Pine Flea Market and the start of stone-crab season.
