Key Largo & Upper Keys Events
What's happening in Key Largo & Upper Keys
Key Largo is the first stop coming down from the mainland: Mile Marker 90 to 113, the Upper Keys, where US-1 finally hits the islands. The event scene here leans toward water. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park runs its own programs year-round. The Original Florida Keys Seafood Festival in March pulls thousands in for a weekend. Live music shows up somewhere along the highway every weekend. December through April is the heaviest stretch, when snowbird season, fishing tournaments, and gala season all stack on top of each other. Summer is lighter but still going, mostly music, family fishing, and Reef-related programs.

Frequently asked questions
- What's the biggest event in Key Largo?
- The Original Florida Keys Seafood Festival, a two-day event the Key Largo Chamber runs in March. Past that, John Pennekamp's underwater programs and the spring dive-tournament season are the highest-traffic items on the calendar.
- When's the best time to come to Key Largo for events?
- December through April. That's when fishing tournament season, charity gala season, and the snowbird crowd all overlap, so the calendar is full. Summer is quieter but still has live music and family fishing.
